Acorn Bot 2 is the second game in the Acorn Bot series and it keeps the format that made the first one work: eight levels, a small robot, a lot of ice cream cones to collect, and an exit door that will not open until you have every one of them.
The addition this time is flying robots. The original threw ground-based bots, spikes, saws and lasers at you, all of which are still here. Flying enemies change the shape of a level, because the safe space above a platform is no longer automatically safe.
How to Play Acorn Bot 2
Work through each stage collecting every ice cream cone, then head for the exit door. Leave one cone behind and the door will not take you anywhere, so a thorough sweep is part of every level rather than an optional extra.
Difficulty rises across the eight levels. The early stages give you space to learn the double jump. Later ones stack flying bots over saw blades and expect you to solve the vertical and horizontal threat at the same time, which is a meaningful step up from the first game.
Controls
- Move: WASD or the arrow keys.
- Jump: W or the Up arrow.
- Double jump: press W or Up again while airborne.
- Goal: collect all the ice cream cones, then reach the exit door.
Tips and Tricks
- Check above you before jumping. Flying robots are the new hazard and they occupy the space you used to escape into.
- Hold the double jump in reserve. It is your correction when a flying bot drifts into your path mid-leap.
- Clear the far end of the level first and collect on the way back. It stops you from stranding a cone behind a hazard you have already passed.
- Ground saws still punish edge landings. Aim for platform centres.
- If you played the first game, do not assume the same routes work. The flying enemies are placed specifically to break old habits.
Who This Game Is For
This suits anyone who finished Acorn Bot and wanted more of it, and it is a reasonable starting point on its own since nothing carries over from the first game except the controls.
It is a harder game than the original. If you found the first one about right, expect to die more here before the later levels fall.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to play the first Acorn Bot first?
No. It is a direct sequel but nothing carries over, so you can start with either. The controls are identical.
What is new compared to Acorn Bot?
Flying robots join the enemy bots, ground saws and spikes, which changes how you approach the vertical space in a level.
How many levels are there?
Eight, with difficulty increasing as you go.
