Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Nelof collects when you visit https://www.nelof.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it. Nelof is a free browser games website. You do not need an account to use it, and we do not sell anything, so the amount of personal data we hold about any individual visitor is deliberately small.
If anything here is unclear, or you want to exercise one of the rights described below, email us at contact@nelof.com or use our contact page.
Who We Are
Nelof is an independently run website that publishes free browser games. In this policy, “Nelof”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operators of nelof.com. “You” refers to anyone visiting the site. We are the data controller for the information described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Information collected automatically
Like nearly every website, our hosting server keeps log files. These record your IP address, browser type and version, internet service provider, the date and time of your visit, the pages you viewed, and the page that referred you to us. This data is not tied to your name or any other identifying detail. We use it to diagnose errors, understand which games are popular, spot abusive traffic, and keep the site running.
Information you give us directly
If you send a message through our contact form, we receive your name, your email address, the subject line, and whatever you write in the message. We use that information for one purpose only: to reply to you. We do not add contact form submissions to a mailing list, and we do not pass them to anyone else.
Comments
If commenting is enabled on a game page and you leave a comment, we store the comment text, the name and email you entered, your IP address, and your browser user agent string. This is standard WordPress behaviour and is used for spam filtering. Your email address is never published.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for or store payment details, because nothing on Nelof costs money. We do not require registration, so we hold no passwords. We do not build advertising profiles of individual named visitors ourselves.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Nelof uses them in three ways.
- Essential cookies keep the site working. They remember things like whether you have dismissed a notice, and they protect the contact form against spam and abuse. The site cannot function properly without them.
- Analytics cookies help us understand in aggregate which games get played and where visitors drop off, so we know which parts of the library are worth expanding.
- Advertising cookies are set by third-party ad networks to measure ad performance and, where permitted, to show you ads relevant to your interests.
You can delete existing cookies and block new ones through your browser settings. Every major browser supports this. Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site. Our Cookies Policy goes into more detail.
Advertising and Google AdSense
Nelof is free to use and is funded by advertising. We display, or intend to display, ads served by Google AdSense and other third-party ad networks. We want to be explicit about what that means for your data.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to Nelof and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.com. Opting out does not remove ads. It means the ads you see will be less relevant to you.
Third-party ad servers and ad networks use technologies such as cookies, JavaScript and web beacons in the advertisements and links that appear on Nelof. These are sent directly to your browser, and those networks automatically receive your IP address when this happens. Nelof has no access to and no control over the cookies used by third-party advertisers. We recommend you consult the respective privacy policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information on their practices and for instructions about how to opt out.
Google’s own advertising privacy information is published at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Embedded Games and Third-Party Content
This is important and most game sites do not say it clearly, so we will. The games you play on Nelof are not hosted on our servers. They are third-party browser games that we license and embed in an iframe, primarily through the games platform GamePix.
When a game loads, your browser connects directly to that provider. The game provider can therefore set its own cookies, record its own analytics, use your browser local storage to save your progress and high scores, and serve its own in-game advertising. That activity is governed by the game provider’s privacy policy, not by ours, and we cannot see or control it.
Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that third-party website directly. If you are uncomfortable with this, do not load the game, or use your browser third-party cookie controls.
Analytics
We use website analytics to count visits and understand general traffic patterns, such as which categories are most played and which pages load slowly. Analytics data is reviewed in aggregate. We do not use it to identify individual visitors by name.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade it. We share data only in these situations:
- With our hosting provider, which necessarily processes server logs in order to serve the site to you.
- With advertising and analytics providers, as described above, which receive data directly from your browser.
- With the third-party game providers whose games you choose to load.
- Where we are legally required to, for example in response to a valid legal request, or where disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
How Long We Keep Data
Server logs are retained for a short operational period and then rotated out. Contact form emails are kept in our inbox for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and to keep a record of it. Comments are retained with the post unless you ask us to delete them. You can ask us to delete anything we hold about you at any time.
Your Rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased, to restrict or object to how we process it, and to receive your data in a portable format. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@nelof.com. We will respond within one month.
If you are a California resident
Under the CCPA you have the right to know what categories of personal information we have collected about you, the right to request deletion of that information, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, email contact@nelof.com.
Children’s Privacy
Many of the games on Nelof are suitable for younger players, and we take this seriously. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not require registration, and we ask children not to submit personal information through the contact form.
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided personal information to us, contact us at contact@nelof.com and we will delete it from our records promptly. We encourage parents to supervise and take part in their children’s online activity, and to be aware that embedded games and third-party ads are subject to their own providers’ policies.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, which encrypts traffic between your browser and our server. We keep our software updated and restrict administrative access. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so while we take reasonable steps to protect information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to Other Websites
Nelof contains links to other websites, including game providers and advertisers. This policy applies only to nelof.com. If you click through to another site, we strongly advise you to read that site’s own privacy policy. We have no control over and take no responsibility for the content or practices of third-party sites.
Consent
By using our website, you consent to this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the site changes or as the law requires. When we do, we will revise the last updated date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be made obvious on the site. Please check back periodically.
