Acorn Bot is a 2D platformer built around a small robot, a lot of hazards, and a surprising number of ice cream cones. Each of the eight levels asks the same two things of you: collect every ice cream cone scattered around the stage, then reach the exit door to move on. Simple to describe, and steadily less simple to do.
The hazards are what give it teeth. Enemy bots patrol the platforms, spikes line the floors, saws sit in the ground waiting for a mistimed landing, and rotating lasers sweep sections of the level on a fixed cycle. Nothing is random, which means every level is a pattern you can learn.
How to Play Acorn Bot
You move, jump and double jump your way around each stage, picking up cones as you go. The exit door will not take you to the next level until you have collected all of them, so a level is only finished when the stage is empty of collectibles and you are standing at the door.
Difficulty climbs across the eight levels. Early stages give you room to experiment. Later ones combine moving enemies with timed lasers, so you are solving a route and a rhythm at the same time. The double jump is essential for the later platforming and worth practising early.
Controls
- Move: WASD or the arrow keys.
- Jump: W or the Up arrow.
- Double jump: press W or Up a second time while in mid-air.
- Goal: collect every ice cream cone, then reach the exit door.
Tips and Tricks
- Do a full lap of the level before committing to hard jumps. Knowing where the last cone is stops you from running out of room late.
- Save the second jump. Players who use the double jump immediately often find they needed that extra height half a second later.
- Rotating lasers run on a fixed cycle. Stand still and count it through once before crossing.
- Enemy bots patrol set paths. Walk behind one rather than trying to outrun it head-on.
- Ground saws punish sloppy landings more than bad jumps. Aim for the middle of a platform, not the edge.
Who This Game Is For
Acorn Bot fits players who like precision platformers with clean rules and short levels. Eight stages is a sitting, not a commitment, and the learn-by-dying loop is quick because restarts are instant.
If you dislike trial and error, the later levels will test your patience. They expect you to fail a few times while you learn the timings.
